  • Mornings - Learning EMDR Therapy

    Mornings of training are dedicated to instruction to build your EMDR Therapy foundation. You will learn about the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) Model, the 8 therapeutic phases of EMDR, and the 3-pronged approach encompassing the past, present and future. EMDR Training manual and slide decks are provided (pdf) in an online learning platform.

    Part 1 & 2 in person 8:30AM-12:00PM

  • Afternoons - Practice EMDR!

    Afternoons are dedicated to practicum experiences. You will work in groups of 3 or 4 to practice skills and experience EMDR in action! You will cycle through the roles of therapist, client, and observer to enhance your learning and application of skills. Be prepared to experience EMDR from a client perspective. EMDR Consultants guide and support you as you practice.

    Part 1 & 2 in person 1:00PM-5:30PM

  • Group Consultations!

    Four Group Consultations (2.5 hours each) are interspersed to support you as you implement EMDR Therapy into your clinical practice. You will present cases, ask questions, and receive clarification. There is so much learning that comes from discussion with peers and an experienced EMDRIA approved EMDR Consultant (or Consultant-in-Training).

We can host a training in Winnipeg, at your agency, or by request at a location in Canada or the USA.

EMDR training includes:

Onboarding - on Zoom 1.5 hours (learn about the training and each other)

Part 1 - in person - 8:30-5:30*

Part 2 - in person - 8:30-5:30*

Group Consultations on Zoom - one session is between Part 1 & 2; three sessions following Part 2 — total of 4 sessions for 2.5 hours each = 10 hours

*lunch from 12:00-1:00, 15-minute break in morning & afternoon

Live attendance is mandatory for all of Parts 1 and 2

Winnipeg Location: Peace of Mind Therapy & Consultation office at 250-2025 Corydon Ave, Winnipeg, Manitoba

  • This location offers the opportunity to practice in private therapy rooms, providing you with comfort and safety as you practice EMDR skills in the ‘therapist’ role and experience first-hand in the ‘client’ role during afternoon practicums

  • Small training group to provide more access to the trainer, opportunities to ask questions, and small group discussion

Group consultation dates are provided at training or if for an agency, planned with the agency in advance.

The Winnipeg EMDR Centre and Elevate EMDR Academy is approved by the Canadian Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. The Winnipeg EMDR Centre and Elevate EMDR Academy maintains responsibility for this program.

Kelly Penner Hutton is approved as an EMDR Trainer by the EMDR International Association to offer EMDR training. Kelly Penner Hutton maintains responsibility for this program.

This EMDR training has been reviewed and is approved for 45 CEC hours by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
